What does it mean to be in fear of the Lord? Are we to be scared of Him? Do we tremble in His presence? We wonder why we are afraid of the One who loves us so much that He gave His Son to die in our stead.

The fear of the Lord is not meant for us to be afraid, it is a Holy reverence and deep respect for God. Psalm 111:10 says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding has all those who do His commandments. His praise endureth forever”.

Being afraid of God is totally out of context. It is our desire to please God in all our doings, and what God desires of us is to gain understanding and with this understanding we gain wisdom.
