Do we think of ourselves more, or do we think of ourselves less?  To be united with Christ, we must be self-less.  We must think of ourselves less when considering others.

When we are united with Christ it brings about a solidarity that is true to the nature of God. God wants us to think of others more than we think of ourselves. It brings about humility and shared spiritual values.

We want to be Christ-like, therefore we should show tenderness and compassion toward others, we must have a loving spirit and be in one accord.  Even though we may be from different backgrounds, our commonality is our love for one another.
