I often wondered how Obedience is better than asking for mercy and forgiveness for some trespasses we did or for walking contrary to God’s law. "When we sin", it says in I John 2:1, "that we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous" Roman 8:34 says that He sits at the right hand of the Father forever making intercession for us. So, when we sin our sins are covered because the blood that Jesus shed was for the propitiation of our sins. So, if we do not sin and walk righteously before God, this is better than sacrifice. This will allow us to stand before God without the stain of sin. But who can do that? The Bible says in Romans 3:23, "for all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God." We, being sinners, need a sacrifice. But the price has already been paid. Jesus paid it all and all to Him I owe. Sin has left a crimson stain but He washed it to become white as snow. He washed us in His Blood, the Blood of the Lamb. It would have been better if we had not sinned. But because we did sin and the sacrifice has been made already.
