The reality that the Blood of Christ has the power to forgive sins stems from the Mosaic Law. Once a year, the priest was to make an offering of the blood of animals on the altar of the temple. This was done for the sins of the people. Heb. 9:22b says, without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. The Blood of Jesus was the ultimate life giving sacrifice that permitted all sins for everybody to be forgiven. The sacrifice of animals provided a temporary covering for sins, but it could not wipe away sins. The Blood of Jesus not only wiped our sins away completely. We were Justified, the theological definition of Justification … declared righteous … as if we had never committed sin. Justified means “just-as-if-I’d-never sinned.”

When Christ died, He set precedent for all eternity. That means anyone who except The Lord Jesus as their Savior their sins were completely wiped away. Not only your sins that you committed today, but all the sins that you committed yesterday and in the past … not only past sins, but all your future sins. Not only our sins, but all the sins that were done by the people in the past, not only their sins, but all the people's sins that will be done by people who have not been born ... All our sins were forgiven when Christ died and shed His Blood for us. The importance of the Blood is that it gives life eternal.
