Spending time with people who have toxic behavior, bad habits, dishonest values will negatively influence us to adopt these same ideas. We may just want to hang out and have fun but that could turn into an incredibly bad experience and this depends on who we are with.

We must know who we hang with. If the character of the people we are with are mischievous, it would benefit us not to hang with them. If they were to get into trouble, simply by association, those who were with them will reap the rewards of the same penalty.

1 Cor. 15:33 says, Do not be deceived: Evil company corrupts good habits. It may not be our intention to get into trouble, but because who we are with it gradually becomes part of our life. We should hang with people that lift us up spiritually instead of doing things that pull us down.

When we are following God’s commands, we will be led by His Spirit. There is something inside of us that warns us of right and wrong behavior. It benefits us to listen.
